About ErasmusScore

What is ErasmusScore?

ErasmusScore is a free, independent diagnostic tool that helps teachers, school coordinators, and education managers audit their Erasmus+ KA1 project readiness — before submitting to a National Agency.

What ErasmusScore does

The tool applies the exact evaluation criteria published in the Erasmus+ Programme Guide (the binding document issued annually by the European Commission) to score a project or institution across the dimensions that National Agencies use when assessing KA1 applications.

It covers two grant types:

  • KA121 — Accredited school mobility: Multi-year funding for schools holding an Erasmus accreditation. The audit scores Personnel Competency, Provider Quality, and Strategic Alignment, out of 15 points total.
  • KA122 — Project-based mobility: Single-year grant for non-accredited schools. The score is built from five pillars — Project Design (25%), EU Priorities (20%), Impact (20%), Logical Framework (20%), and Feasibility (15%).

Alongside the readiness score, the tool estimates the total mobility grant budget using the official EU rate tables from Programme Guide Annexes I and II: travel bands by straight-line distance, country-specific individual support daily rates, organisational support, and course fees.

How the Erasmus+ score is calculated

The scoring engine mirrors the award criteria weightings from the KA1 section of the Programme Guide. No proprietary rubrics are used — every criterion maps directly to a published Programme Guide requirement.

The grant budget simulation uses the Haversine formula to calculate straight-line (great-circle) distance between origin and destination cities — the same method specified by the European Commission's official Distance Calculator used in all Erasmus+ applications.

Scores are estimates. The tool cannot account for each National Agency's local priorities or competition level in any given application year.

Who ErasmusScore is for

  • School coordinators preparing a first KA122 application
  • Erasmus+ coordinators optimising an existing KA121 Erasmus Plan
  • Headteachers and school boards seeking an evidence-based overview before approving a mobility project
  • Education consultants preparing schools for National Agency submission
  • Teachers planning CPD mobility and wanting to understand grant eligibility
